Technical Assessment Team to the Mauritius 2010 National Assembly Elections

EISA is deploying a Technical Assessment Team to the Mauritius 2010 National Assembly Elections for 5 May 2010. The team will be composed of three members and is expected to arrive in Port Louis on 29 April in order to hold a series of meetings with election stakeholders ahead of election day. Stakeholders include the Mauritius Supervisory Commission, Electoral Commissioner, political parties, CSOs and academics. The team will remain in the country until 7 May in order to observe the voting and counting processes as well as post polling activities. The team will cover selected rural and urban areas around Mauritius.
The mission's assessment will be based on international standards for credible elections, including the African Union Declaration on Principles Governing Democratic Elections and the Principles for Election Management, Monitoring and Observation in the SADC Region (PEMMO).
