In July 2004, EISA opened an office in Maputo, Mozambique focused on election-related conflict management, initiated a series of electoral processes monitoring projects such as PVTs and voters' roll audits and disseminated knowledge and information to stakeholders.

EISA's Office in Mozambique opened in August 2004, and has operated uninterrupted for 12 years now, making it the longest-running EISA country office. Its activities were focused on the electoral process, supporting electoral reforms and citizen observation, but in 2009, the area of political party strengthening was added.
