EISA conducted two workshops for political parties in Khartoum on the 26-30 April and on the 15-17 June 2008, aimed at enhancing the capacity of political parties to participate positively in the electoral process by providing appropriate skills and knowledge through theoretical information, debate and interactive practical sessions using case studies and discussion. About 60 participants from across all the participating parties attended the two workshops.
A capacity-building training workshop was conducted in Khartoum, Sudan from 21-23 May 2007. The six major political parties in Sudan attended, namely the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), The Sudanese Communist Party (CP), National Congress Party (NCP), Sudan People's Liberalism Movement (SPLM), Umma National Party (UP) and People's National Congress (PNC). The overall objective of the workshop was to provide a platform for parties to discuss issues pertaining to their internal governance and functioning. The parties looked specifically into issues of internal governance, organisational structures, membership, leadership selection/election, party competition and party coalitions.
