The election took place on 24 October 2014.

Women's representation

Of the 192 candidates fielded for election only 17 (6.56%) were women (IPU 2014). Once the 6 indirectly elected seats are taken into consideration there were only 6 women MPs, just 9.52% of the 63 in total (IPU 2014).

Electoral alliance

The Botswana National Front (BNF), Botswana Alliance Movement (BAM) and Botswana Peoples Party (BPP) formed an electoral alliance, running a combined slate of candidates under the banner of "the Umbrella for Democratic Change".
