Egypt: People's Assembly elections 1979-2010

Prior to his assassination on 6 October 1981, President Sadat launch a reform initiative that resulted in a semi-competitive election in 1979 and similar elections during the presidency of his successor President Mubarak. However, the system was loaded in favour of the ruling National Democratic Party (NDP) which maintained its dominance unbroken until the 2011 Revolution, as illustrated in the table below.
