Lesotho: Civil society actors

Civil society organisations, including faith-based organisations and non-governmental organisations, are free to operate in Lesotho and participate in the electoral process through civic education and electoral observation, as well as research and advocacy on electoral issues. Unlike other countries in the SADC region, there is no animosity between the government and electoral commission on one hand, and civil society on the other hand. Limitations on civil society activity come mostly from a lack of funding and/or lack of membership of the organisation to carry out its activities.
